For this breif i was asked to create a lair/house/space...which consited of 4 different rooms in Autdodesk 3DS Max.
This project is probaly the one i am least happy with my work, but i think that is down to myself again for leaving it quite late, but also sort of giving up towards the end & just settling with something that when i looked at it i just felt like 'meh' instead of spending an extra day on it to create something which i could be proud of creating.
The thing i most struggled in this project was that i did not know what i actually wanted ot create, a superhero lair?, a living space, or something completley of the chart. I think i must have started over around 10 times which actually wasted alot of time, after spending a good few hours on each one.
I then decided after looknig through my images folder on my macbook i wanted ot create something simplistic, modern...in some mountain type of scenery but also wanted to keep it quite gritty.
I then one night came across something called 'Project redsand' in a pirate radio documentary on www.vbs.tv
(A picture of Project Redsand)
Project Redsand is basically a group of people who inahbitated a group of abandoned worl war 2 anti-aircraft forts of the coast of kent, they then turned these structures into a community which has been gonig strong for 40+ years now & are pushing for independance as a country & have their own currency. Just seeing this image gave me the inspiration i want and i decided to create my space around this inspiration, here is a screen shot.
Even though i now had my inspiration i still struggled quite alot with the project, mainly with motivation aswell as what would go inside the space itself. I ended up just sort of sticking with my original idea of something simplistic & gritty. I then searched through my images for alot of different textures etc i wanted to use and began modelling then on top, eventually ending up with my final piece.
(the final 1 minute animation)
I am far form happy with the final clip, the camera is far too jumpy, the rooms are far to empty & it doesn't even show the full extent of work, but i suppose this is why im not going into 3D work next year right?...
